Abstract
Civilizations, like other social phenomena, are always changing and transforming. What is called the modern Western civilization is a set of political, social, economic, and cultural achievements in the West that have been manifested in the form of secular political systems and the capitalist economic system. However, this civilization has been criticized and viewed from different perspectives by Imam Khamenei. Accordingly, recognizing the nature and type of His Highness's view of Western civilization is a fundamental issue in understanding this phenomenon. Quranic evidence of the Supreme Leader's thought in criticizing the state of Western civilization can be found in Surah Al-Zukhruf (verses 51 to 56), money-oriented democracy in Surah Al-Shura (verse 38), arrogant temperament in Surah Al-A'raf (verse 88), theoretical deadlock in Surah Al-Qasas (verse 5), modern ignorance in Surah Yasin (verse 36), An-Naml (verse 55), and parties (verse 33).
